...Murphy? This isn't funny.
Jacksonville is currently seeing some tropical-storm force rain and wind.
I live on one side of the St. John's River. My work is located on the other side of the St. John's.
Multiple bridges in the Jacksonville area are currently closed due to wind--including the one really close to me that I have to cross to get to work.
When I called my workplace to tell them I might have issues getting there depending on the weather conditions tonight, I've found out that so far the company's inclement weather policy has not been activated--meaning that people that cannot get to work due to the bridge closings are S.O.L.
...yeah. My work can bite me, methinks. Even more so if the bridges are still closed when it comes closer to time for me to get ready for work.
Edit (6:30 PM EST): Yes, yes, I know. There are a couple of bridges still open at this point in time. But they're kinda out in the middle of nowhere in relation to where I'm located and where I need to go. And there's no guarantee that they'll still be open when I check in an hour. And I really don't relish the thought of driving in this weather for any longer than I normally would have to, as my car gets tossed around enough in lighter winds to make me leery of driving in this weather (and yes, I know. This weather is quite mild compared to some of the stuff that's hit various places in the past). Guess I'll just have to see how things are in an hour and decide then what to do, eh?
