"Five words" meme
Comment "WORDS" to this entry and I will comment back with five words I associate with you. Then you post this in your journal elaborating.

Dragons: I've liked dragons for as long as I remember, and they are a very common theme in my origami and sculpting. As one could probably guess, there is a lot of dragon-related stuff throughout the condo--books, sculptures, pictures, and so forth. I'm also otherkin--dragonkin, to be exact.

Origami: I was first introduced to origami during middle school--I learned from a couple of friends how to fold cranes, waterbombs, and how to fold notes in odd ways that we hoped the teachers wouldn't be able to unfold if they were intercepted. In tenth grade, a friend and I were trying to figure out what to do for a presentation for our world history class. I jokingly commented that we could do the report on the history of origami while showing her a crane I folded in Spanish class. Thing is, she didn't take it as a joke--she asked for and received permission for that topic, and I've been folding in earnest ever since.

Curiosity: To put it bluntly, I like to learn about a variety of different things. No, that's not quite right: I seek to understand what I can of the world I live in and everything in it, and as such I tend to poke and prod and learn what I can. Sometimes it's a good thing, as I learn a fair bit and oftentimes can put the knowledge to use. However, I will be the first to admit that sometimes my curiosity has gotten me into trouble, either due to me crossing the line from "curious" to "nosy" or because I wind up finding out stuff that I really have no business knowing--both of which have resulted in rather stiff tail-slaps to the face, so to speak.

Tabletop: I have been playing Dungeons & Dragons v. 3.5 for the past couple of years. I don't seem to have a favorite playstyle insofar as what types of characters I prefer to play; I enjoy trying different character classes or concepts. As far as what I like in a D&D game, I will admit to liking combat as much as anyone else but the thing that really hooks me into a game is the storyline and the interactions between the player characters and everyone else in the game world.

Video RPGs: I had probably one of the more oddball introductions to RPGs. Yeah, I started playing the Pokemon games not too long after the initial release in the U.S., but the other games that I enjoy playing so much now? The reason I wanted to play Xenogears and Chrono Cross to begin with was because Allon had the music downloaded onto his computer and sent me copies of it not too long after we met online because he thought I would like it. And he was right--I did like the soundtracks. A -lot-. So much that when I visited him for the first time in March 2005 I not only returned home with his PlayStation and Final Fantasy games but also with the games to match the aforementioned soundtracks. I started playing Xenogears, and I just got hooked. I started playing Chrono Cross and two of the PS1 Final Fantasy games, and I got hooked into the genre. Not just for the music, either--my favorite games in the genre tend to have stories and characters that I find interesting.

...by the way, when you say "Video RPGs" does this only count ones played on a console or handheld system (or solo on the computer), or does this also include MMORPGs such as World of Warcraft? Because if the latter does count...hehe. You can pretty much take what I said I like about the last two words and smush them together. And that's not taking into account the other things I like about that game...or the thing or two that I'm less than fond of about it.

XD I was thinking video games/handhelds/computer games type RPGs, not MMORPGs, but yes, those too. (I ALMOST gave you World of Warcraft, but...)

Gotcha. I thought you meant the former, but I mentioned WoW just in case. And while we're here...
